SHIPPING INTELLIGENCE.
The s.s. Balmain arrived last evening from Newcastle with a cargo of 500 to.io of coal consigned to the Gas Company and Kennedy and Evans. Dr Williams, the health officer, boarded the vessel this morning and granted a clean bill of health. The vessel came into the river this afternoon, was berthed at Read's Quay, and will commence discharging tomorrow morning. The s.s. Zealandia arrived from South at 4.30 yesterday afternoon, and proceeded to Auckland and Sydney at 8.30. Passengers — Inward : Mesdaines Orr and child, Gore, Lunn and child, Stubbs, McLean, Wreay, Edie and child, Toppin, Berry, Wood, . Magnuson ; Misses Wells, Chrystall, Pasley (2), AnketelL. Berry, Andrews, Wood, Magnuson ; Messrs McLean, Marshall, Simmons, Wreay, Burnett, Bache, Stevens, DeLautour, Smith, Christophers (2), Griffin, Rees, 'Ramsay, Benton, Eadie, Handley, Weymess, Williams (2), Saunders, Gliting, Poole, Ling, Ross, Berry, Howsou, Victor, Heurick. Outward: Misses Evans, Dodd, Quinnj Messrs Barker, Grace, Millington. The Union Company's s.s. Talune arrived from Auckland at 8 o'clock last evening, and sailed for South about midnight. Passengers — Inward : Misses Pidgeon, Huvitt and Goodley ; Mesdames Biddies, Sherriff, and Gentry; Messrs Gregg, Biddies, Neill, Nair, Taukamo, Webster, and Young. Outward : Misses Hardy, Cameron, Sherratt (2), Maodonaid; Mrs Kern; Messrs Hardy, Anderson, Goldstein, Miller, Brunton, Barker, Colebrook, Sheridan, Faulkner, SergeantMajor Tuck, and Rev. Macdonald. The s.s. Tarawera leaves Wellington to-morrow early, Napier Wednesday morning, and arrives here m the evening. The s.s. Herald leaves Auckland at 4 p.m. to-morrow for Coast ports and Gisborne. , The schooner Gisborne (Captain Pankow) left Mercury Bay on Saturday, 16th, with a strong southerly wind across the bay of Plenty. On Sunday she anchored m Te Araroa roadstead, leaving again on Tuesday morning, with a strong S.W. wmd. Tolaga Bay was reached on Wednesday afternoon, where she discharged 10,000 ft timber for Mackrell and Colley ; 24 bales wool were shipped on Friday. Leaving Tolaga the same evening she arrived m thfßay on Saturday evening: and was towed to berth' yesterday afternoon. Her cargo consists of 14,000 ft timber for the Gisborne Freezing Company. 12,000 ft timber for Robb Bros., 15 000 ft timber for F. Stafford, 6000 staves foi Williams and Kettle, 3000 ft timber foi Mackrell and Colley, 14 bales wool foi Common, Shelton and Co., and 10 bales wool for the Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited. After the Gisborne has discharged her cargo she sails foi Auckland.
