Owing to the interest taken by Major Mair (acting as one of the Judges of the Appellate Court) m the resting-places uif his comraid.s o£ the olden days, the Government have decided to locate the graves of tlie late Captains Canning, Carr and Hussey, killed m fights m the sixties m the district. The remains when found will be interred m Wairoa Cemetery. As tlie result of negotiations which Have been proceeding for some time an understanding has been arrived at out.of Court by which 14,000 acres of the Waipawa block, Waikafeanoaum district, will be partitioned off. This area includes Lake Warekareiti, one of thie lovely spots of New Zealand. Mr A. L. D. Fraser acted for tlie Crown m tlie matter. Mr Fraser leaves for Napier this afternoon. Mr Napier Bell has arrived at Waikokopu, and leaves for Napier this after- ; noon.
