"THE WRONG MR WRIGHT."

** i Some considerable time has elapsed since Gisborne was visited by a theatrical company of standing, and it will be welcome news to playgoers that all arrangements have been completed for the appearance on the 19tli inst. of the \\\\- loughby-Geach Company, now touring New Zealand. Of the many good things brought to the colony of late, none has proved to be better aprpeeiated than the laughter-making comedy with which this company heads their bill-of-fare. Indeed, amongst the many creations of the playwright, it may be said that there is no more popular and success! ul personage than "The Wrong Mr Wright," who is at prase.nl making the whole world roar with good hearty laughter. The ultra-critical Sydney Bulletin has this to say about the piece : "The Wrong Mr Wright" causes the same kind of shriek, hurts the people m the small of the ribs m exactly the same kind of way. creases their faces similarly, and with identical pleasurable re- ! collections of a play which has a character quite its own that is, m many respects. \ better than "What Happened to Jones." , i Briefly, the plot is as follows : Mr Single- i ton Sites, travelling as Adolphus Wright, ; is arrested on a charge of having robbed ' himself of lifty thousand dollars, and of having forged his own name to his own \ draft. The robbery has been actually committed by a clerk, who adopts the ! same alias, and makes for the same spot, —Point Comfort, near New York. What more natural than that a fascinating lady detective should track down the wrong Mr Wright, should inspire a serious passion at very short notice, should hand him over to the police, and repent immediately afterwards, and should throw up Irer position m the detective force, with the prospect of a permanent matrimonial partnership with Singleton Sites? At least, if this is not natural, it is vastly diverting. As is generally known, Messrs Willoughby and Geach took over the company so successfully managed by Mr Charles Arnold, and m so doing managed to get some of that actor's good luck, with the result that they now stand m the front rank of amusement caterers, and m their many attractions the public may rely upon seeing something far above the ordinary. The box plan will be opened at Mr W. Miller's on Wednesday morning at 10, and intending patrons would do well to book their seats early.
