FARMERS UNION.

A meeting of the Tiniroto braiVuh of the Farmers' Union was held on Saturday last, and was largely -attended by local membersl and by Messrs E. Jackson, Brockelbank, and F. Lysnar. The Ruakituri settlers were not able to be present, owing to tlie rivers being iv flood.

On the proposition of Mr W. 'Slither- • land a resolution of the Ormond branch, asking for the co-operaiion of all branches iv a request to the local auctioneers to hold combined sale^, was' endorsed, .Mr jE. Jackson being the seconder. Mr Kent proposed that this branch pay Is per member as a contribution! towards the testimonial to Mr Glass.—Mr R. St. Leger seconded the motion, which was, carried. . In answer to a request from the Provincial Executive for an opinion, . Mr Sutherland proposed that the Agricultural Department be. asked to supplement the A. and P. Society's prize for dairy bulls, provided that the service for such "prizewinner be fixed at a rate approved of by the A. and P. Society. The resolution was' seconded by Mr St. Leger,, and carried.

Mr Walter Whyte proposed that this branch endorses the action of the Executive Mn enquiring into the management of the. Parliamentary picnic.—Mr E. Jackson seconded the motion, which was carried.

At a subsequent meeting Mr Clayton was authorised to write to the Minister for Public Works in the name of the Hangaroa arid Tiniroto settlers, pointing out that the grant of £400,' appearing on the Public Works Estimates, was irisufficieiit for the Hangaroa-Tiniroto road, so^i lying idle, on which the-Governineiit^tad expended a large sum of money, and which was practically of no use to anyone until completed. It was decided to urge a small extra'grant, so that the road could be opened for light ti'afßc.
