LONDON, July 22. A special committee appointed to deal with Government Savings Banks recommends that owing to the coming la*"**: of income from reduced dividends oir consols in 1903 depositors' interest be reduced one-eighth per cent. The Agent-General denies the rumor that New South Wales will shortly borrow three millions.

Tenders for the Victorian loan ;have closed. It is understood that the public subscriptions were very small, and that the underwriters received a large proportion. The loan is quoted at half per cent discount.

Consols are at 95i.
