GOLF.

Lust week the ladies' and gentlemen's clubs played off the second monthly competition medal play. The professional style now being adopted by several of the members seems to have had rather a bad effect so 'far ou their play, but with a little more practice, no doubt, it will result in better form being shown. A number of the players did not hand in tlieir names. Mrs Carroll and Miss Leach kindly supplied afternoon tea, and, needless to say, it was duly appreciated. The following are the results of the two matches, which were won by Miss Adams and Mr Barlow respectively: — LADIES. Miss Adams 80 sor 80 Mrs King 92 scr 92 Mrs O'Meara 95 2 93 Mrs L. It would appear that the few miles of water separating the two clubs has rather a dreaded effect on some of the members of the southern team, and others are anxious to go to Christehurch for the Championship meeting. It is a pity if this competition should drop through, but it will be through no fault of the local Club.
