(retired) at Dunedin, was chief detective here till promoted to be sub-inspector at Christchureb, going from there as inspector to Hawke's Bayon Inspector Emerson's' retiremeat, A proposal was mooted at the Seddon banquet committee last night to participate m the national purse movement, but it was scouted. Councillor Park, one of >he promoters of the banquet, said it would be lowering the dignity of the occasion. A further suggestion that a purse be given Mrs Seddon was coldly received.
