COMMERCIAL.
Messrs; Dalgety and Co., Limited, report:—"We held our stock sale yesterday at"Makaraka, yards. There was a fair yarding of cattle, principally young steers and heifers. The demand was light, and buyers did not bid up to owners' reserves in many cases. We sold 2^-ycar heifers at £4*; good forward store bullocks, £5 ss; run cows, £4; and calves, 41s and upwards. Sheep.—The yarding of sheep was small.. Uahis failed to reach owners' reserves. Two-tooth wethers made 6s 6d; 2 and 4 tooth ewes', 5s 9d; old ewes, 3s to 4s. .The prices made by sheep were disappointing, but we have no doubt that on the opening of the Gisborne Freezing Works there should be a better demand.
