LONDON, April 10. Colonel Plumer, at Pietersburg,- captured 60 prisoners, and a , seven-pounder gun. He destroyed 210,000 rounds of ammunition, and a considerable quantity of powder and dynamite. The Boers evacuated Pietersburg the night before Colonel Plumer's arrival. They exploded two trucks "full of ammunition. Two engines and '39 trucks were captured. Lieut. Walker and one private were killed, and Lieut. Sale was severely wounded ,all being Australian Bushmen. Eight Australian Bushmen expelled 40 burgbers from, the Iron Pass, at Must, capturing the key to Piet-ersburg. Two Bushmen were wounded. Colonel Plumer commended the little party for their gallantry. On Saturday 450 of Schelper's comanando surrounded 100 Lancers, Yeomanry, and Brabant's Horse, near Aberdeen. Twenty-five escaped. The rest, after some hours' fighting, surrendered. There were six British casualties.

The Cape Colony loyalists are delighted at the lenient Treason Act which has superseded martial law, a .good effect following. Colonel the Hon. J. H. S. Byng, com- ! manding the South African Light Horse, j captured sixteen Boers, fifty horses, and a quantity of ammunition at Bosnaausdorp A British, patrol, guarding a water-hole uA Agenthuis, Namaqualand, were captured by the enemy. The post has since been re-occupied. ' The British Women's Liberal Unionist Association are distributing on the Continent pamphlets giving authentic infor- 1 motion regarding South Africa. This is counteracting the calumnies against the British. LdVd Lansdowns has appointed a Commission to investigate the- claims of foreigners deported from South Africa to Europe.
