LAST NIGHT'S NEW ZEALAND NEWS.
- (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. The Rev: W. J. and Mrs Williams were passengers by the Elingamite to-'day, en route to England on a holiday trip. WELLINGTON, last night. The National Dairy Association is promoting a large winter exhibition of dairy produce and machinery, to be held under the auspices of the Manawatu A. and P. Association in July. An important condition, and one new to the colony,, is to be imported into the competition, namely, that in place of a factory manager being able to make an entry when he pleases, and of specially-prepared butter, tie competing butter is to be taken from a Home consignment of the factory's produce BfTit lies in the cold storage at the port of shipment, the boxes being selected at the time, unknown to the factory manager, by a special committee. Mr Clark, secretary of the Reefton Racing Club, has been appointed secretary to the Wellington Racing Club, being selected out of about 50 applicants from all parts of the colony. DUNEDIN, last night. The management committee of the Educational Institute passed a resolution that, pending the introduction of a colonial scale of salaries for teachers, the Minister of Education be requested to allow the Otago Education Board to dis-. tribute the amounts allotted to Otago under the Public School Teachers' Salaries Bill. It was decided to request the Education. Board in the event of their receiving a grant to allocate it on the graduated percentage basis. During the week reports have been received from 41 dredges, the total yield being 24170z 12dwt 22gr, or an average of 340z.
