The red-fun-nel boat has been delayed for a slight defect m the engine-room, which brings the hour of her departure very close; to that of the 'Frisco mail steamer. In view of the Mararoa's record-breaking on the present trip North, it is anticipated that the Union steamer will give a good account of herself. CHRISTCHURCH, this day. At the Supreme Court this morning a verdict of not guilty was returned m the case m which James Middleton was charged with assaulting 'a man named Power with a long-handled shovel. At the Supreme Court Donald Mcßae. charged with breaking and entering at Lyttelton, was found not guilty. DUNEDIN, this day. Herman Booth, aged 19, who pleaded guilty m the lower Court on the 22nd ult. to theft from a dwelling, was admitted to probation by Mr Justice Williams for twelve months, conditional on his paying £6 2s by weekly instalments- of half-a-crown. , , The total cqpt of liquidating the Colonial Bank up to date is £6633 6s Bd. The Judge to-day granted Messrs. Vigers and Simpson an additional £160 each. When they ask for a final order of dissolution the liquidators expect to return the shareholders about Is per share.
