The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company reports that at its stock sale, held at the Matawhero yards on Thursday, 20th inst., the entries were for the time of the year arid the attendance quite up to the average. Sheep : We yarded 838, and sold 606. There wns a slightly easier tendency, d' i no doubt to many sheepfarmers "being busy with shearing. Prices of lots sold were: Ewes, with small percentage of lambs in wool, 12s 6d ; 2 and 4-tooth ewes in wool, 12s lid ; small wethers, 13s. . A pen of shorn ewes and wethers made 9s sd. Cattle : We had only a moderate entry. Heifer calves made 465, 18-month heifers £3 7s 6d, steer calves 355, dairy heifers springing £4 7s 6d, fat cows £5, working bullocks in beef condition £6. 7s 6d to £7 10s. We also sold on account of W. Witters the Shorthorn bull Royal Scott. 11. at 28gs, and two bull calves 10 and 11 months old at 12gs and lOgs respectively. Horses : We sold a yearling draught filly for £9, unbroken light drought £10 10s, hack £5 ss. • Pigs : Weaners made 9s, porkers 10s to 13s. Our next sale takes place on Friday, January 18th.
