GENERAL WHITE'S REPORT.
Albany, Dec. 1
. General White's report on the Nicholson Nek disaster says that after the stampede of tho infantry, the battalion fixed bayonets, accompanied by a portion of the battery, and seized a hill two miles from the Nek, where they remained unmolested till dawn. During the. night they constructed stone sangars and walls as a cover from the fire. At dawn a skirmishing attack was made by the enemy. Later reinforcements came, and then the enemy's fire became very searching and pressed up to short range, the losses on our side becoming severe. _
At three in the afternoon the ammunition was exhausted, and the column fell into the hands of the Boers.
The Boers treated the wounded with great humanity,, and General Joubert sent a letter offering safe conduct to the doctors aud ambulance to remove tho wounded.
