QUEEN INSPECTS THE GRENADIERS.
It was a marvel how the Boers stood the shell fire motionless and silent under their defences. Their retreat was made without rout, they taking the guns along with them. (Received Dec. 1, 10.50 a.m.) g After the battle of Grasspan aome Boer women fired upon, the Lancers' patrol at Robe farm, killing one. Two battalions of infantry and additional cavalry are being sent to reinforce Lord Methuen.
London, Nov. 30. Mr Chamberlain, speaking at Leicester, said the Boers had given us a olean slate whereon to write what we pleased. They had torn and scattered the conventions to the winds. The supremacy of the flag waa . the only desirable solution < and guarantee of peace and justice.
London, Nov. 30. The Queen, inspecting the Grenadiers at Windsor, had the wives and families of the Life Guards and reservists grouped round her carriage. She referred to the splendid conduct of the Guards in South Africa, and made feeling allusions to the losses. Sho hoped the women « ould hear goud news of their husbands. '
