NUHAKA'S NEEDS.
♦ — ■ A PETITION TO PARLIAMENT.
Tub following petition to the Minister of Public Works, his colleagues, and Parliament, is now in the hands of the Town Clerk for signature. We give its prayer our most hearty support, and trust that the petition may be numerously signed :— " VVe, the undersigned settlers and resi-
dents of the Waiapu electorate, would humbly, respectfully, nnd earnestly beg you to consider the urgeut need of roads in all that district known asNuhakaNorth, and its approaches, a region recently and extensively settled, and containing some of the fiuest thermal springs and scenery which form so valuable in asset to New Zealand especially that the road from Gisborne to; the Hot Springs he speedily completed that the Maraetuha and Tiinnnui rivers be; bridged, and that the sand flats nt Murewai and other difficult portions be metalled ; that the road from the landing place at Mahia bay over the Morerc hills (aboi)t 5 miles) be formed to the hot springs ; and that the sand-hills about 4 miles west of Tahaenui bridgo be improved. For these purposes we now petition your honorable colleagues to place on the estimates the sum of seven thousand pounds (£7000) or such sum your eugiueers may deem sufficient for the works and your petitioners will ever pray." \
