The steamer Empress has had repairs effected, and resumed her voyage to Napier. BRISBANE, Skit. 25. Mr Bryne's, the Premier's, condition is grave. (Received Sept. 26, 0.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Skit. 26. A man named Slattery has been sentenced to ten years' imprisonment for the Penhurst Bank robbery. A widow named Marian Robertson has been found dead, covered with blood, in a house at Collingwood. A tomahawk was found near the body. A man with whom she was living has been arrested. They were seen drinking and quarrelling together. A man named Archer has been arrested for the Strathmenton tragedy. Accused admitted being in company of the murdered t man Matthews about the date of the murder. Matthews and a mate were collecting opossum skins. ' On the 18th instant a man giving the name of Archer sold a horse and cart near Strathmcnton, and came to Melbourne, where he disposed of a quantity of skins. ADELAIDE, Sept. 25. McDonald, a telegraph operator, cycled from Port Darwin in 28J days, a week ahead of the record. PERTH, Skft. 24. Two prospectors named Anderson and Power died from thirst on Mount Mortimer.
