Parliamentary Reporter.

AVellington, to-day. Apropos Colonel Fox's letter, telegraphed from Christchurch, Mr Seddon says his rofei'onoo to Colonel Fox having a free hand applied only to choice of weapons and not to command of the forces generally. He ■was asked by Cabinet to recommend a weapon in 1595. Colonel Fox strongly advised that the Martini-Henri should be ordered, assigning us a reason why the Lee-Metfords should not bo purchased that they carried so far that they would be dangerous to people in this colony, and also that they had sent^ bullets through people without killing them. It was on this recommendation that the Martiui-Henris were ordered, and they were now considered as obsolete and useless.
