KAITERATAHI RACES.

Mr Bennett was well up to time with the weights for the Kaiteratahi races, and his adjustments have apparently given all-round satisfaction to the owners of horses engaged in the Handicap, Hurdles, and Flying Hacks Handicaps. In the Maori race, in which Native jockeys sport silk, the minimum weight is fixed at list, and these keen sportsmen will be sure to do their best to add zest to the day's sport. In the Station Race also list is the minimum. A good class of weight-carrying station hacks are engaged, and there will be a large gathering from the up-country stations, which have been granted a holiday for the Prince of Wales' Birthday, to see their cracks, reported to he in the pink of condition, meet in friendly rivalry. Mr Orr occupies the judge's chair, Mr Tait will wield the starter's flag, and Mr Colebrook attends to the weighing. Every endeavor will be made to have the course in good going order, while the arrangements for providing for the large number of visitors expected to attend are in the able hands of Mr James Erskine.
