Ho therefore hnd to oifer them the alternative of disbanding or forming themselves into a rifle corps. The officers expressed great disappoiutmeut at the decision, as tho Battery baa been kept together and worked hard in expectation of being supplied with modern weapons, but said they would do their best to induce the men to join Uio rifles. It is expected that they will do so, but tho Navals, to whom a similar intimation has been made, are expected to disband. J
