TROUBLE IN INDIA.

Calcutta, July 1,

A punitive force has been sent to occupy Puna, where the native purnnls are inciting the people to murder the British officials. Rioting has taken place at Chimpur, and nearly all the official inspectors have been seriously injured. The military are parading the streets, and the mob are defiant. The trouble originated in the alleged profanation of a moaque by the Government officials. The Magistrate warned the rioters that stern measures will be adopted uuless the rioting ceases.
