THE DEAN CASE.
Sydney, Sept. 29. Mr Meagher, who has been interviewed, said Sir J. Salamons' statements were utterly and absolutely without foundation. He does not regard them as serious, but as the machinations of a crafty or disordered brain. The only alternative of stating Sir J. Salamons' concocted confession, he says, was. to find him not guilty on the grounds of insanity. Dean, Mr Meagher says, never made any confession, and maintained his innocence throughout. Mr Meagher firmly believes in Dean's innocence. Sir J. Salamons had booked a passage to Melbourne, but has now decided to stay pending Mr Meagher's statement to the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, and should he think it necessary will reply in the Council. Mr Meagher hints that there will be some peculiar revelations when he speaks. ____________
