PARLIAMENTARY.

(From Our Special Reporter.) Wellington, last night. COUNCIL BUSINESS. In the Council the Census Bill, which provides for the next census being taken in 1901 and every ten years thereafter, and the Unclassified Societies Bill providing for incorportion of football and other clubs, passed their second reading. The Fenoing Bill was made to apply to lands owned by Natives under Crown grant or under Native customs and usages. THOSE SECURITIES. The Public Accounts Committee reports that it was not contrary to law for the Trust securities of the Public Trust, Post Office, and Government Life Insurance Departments to be sent to London, assuming the law allowed the appointment of a custodian in London,- which is doubtful. It therefore recommends that legislation be passed making the position clear. - The Premier promises to introduce a Bill forthwith.
