ROVERS V. TURANGANUI 11.
Ab expected a good " go " took place on No. 2 ground between the above teams, the game being very even all through. In the first spell no score was registered, though both teams pressed each other hard on several occasions. In the latter part of the spell Loomb secured a mark in the Rovers 25, but the kick went wide. The Rovers were forced twice and the Turanganui once in this spell. In the second spell, through bad play on the part of one of the Rovers' backs, Wilkinson scored an easy try, but no goal was made. Shortly afterwards Hill obtained a try, which was converted. Iv this spell both teams were forced the same number of times as in the firsc half. The Turanganui thus won a hard-fought game by 8 points to nil. For the winners Loomb, Brosnahan, and Hepburn grafted well as backs, and the best; of the forwards wove Hiii, Wyllie, Featon, ami O'Connell. For she losers all playod well, and with good combination, the pick of thw backs being Haisinan, McC*be, find Gray, the best forwards being Jeuue x Campbell, Brewer, and Webb. Mr Oolebourne had charge of the whistle, and Messrs Ovenden and Nasmith were the line umpires.
