The Winton Child Murders.
Invercargill, Saturday night,
At the Magistrate's Court, Mr Poynton, S.M., committed Minnie De^i to trial for the murder of Dorothy Edith Carter, and discharged Charles Dean. Ho said there was no evidence at all against the husband, and he left the Court without a stain on his character. The police, however, wore justified in arresting him, as they did not know how the evidence might turn. Mr Tlanlon, solicitor for the accused, admitted that the police had acted fairly, and were entitled to credit for the way they worked up the case. Dean shook hands with his solicitor, and left the Court. His wife will be tried in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
