Alleged Bigamy.
Wellington. Saturday.
When the case of Charles Waters, who is charged with having committed bigamy in London in 1891, came on in the Magistrates Court to-day, Mr Martin, S.M., said he still doubted whether he had jurisdiction in. the matter, the alleged offence having taken place in England, and therefore he would not commit the accused for trial. Mr Jellicoe's course was a simple one. All he had to do was to apply to the Supreme Court for a mandamus to compel him (Mr Martin) to send the case for trial. .'' .„ Eventually the matter was adjourned till Monday to enable His Worship to farther consider arguments submitted by counsel. To-day.— Mr Martin, S.M., held that he had no jurisdiction in the case against Chas. Waters, and dismissed the information. . ■__
