Supreme Court.

Wellington, to-day. — George Hume, who was convicted of assaulting his wife and twisting her arm until it broke, was sentenced to two years' hard labor. He had been convicted of several previous assaults on his wife. Paul Gortslonffe, alias Koren, alias Kotts, for theft of a number of articles from a fellow lodger's box, received 15 months. John Mcßae, for stealing a horse and saddle, was sentenced to 15 months. B. W. Kimberley (an old man), for stealing an overcoat and shirt, was remanded for medical treatment. The gaoler said he appeared to'be rather weak. Robert Crocker, for burglary at Opaki and Mastertou, was sentenced to 15 months. John Lindsay, who previously pleaded guilty to four charges of forgery and false pretences, and who had been previously convicted of forgery, was sentenced to two years' hard labor, In the Supreme Court George Hume, fishermau, charged with assaulting his wife, was found guilty. W, K. Kimberley, for larceny, and John Mcßae, for horse-stealing in the Wairarapa district, pleaded guilty, all three being remanded for sentence.
