BOWLING.
On Saturday *fternoon there was a large muster Of ladies, bowlers, and spectators on the Gieborne Club's ground, when three rink matches were played for trophies presented to the Club by Mr W. O. Skeet. Other members took part in scratch games, and the green when fully occupied by players presented an animated appearance. The wellkept green with its soft velvety carpet ot turf covering, its billiard-table-Uke surface, its sloping banks and pretty terrace ; the lovely array of flowers (including a number of choice roses), the perfume of which scented the air ; and the fine creepers climbing over trelUaed archways make the grounds a real Arcadian bower to pasa a summer's afternoon. Lady friends of members were preeent on Saturday afternoon, and dispensed tea and light refreshments. The remaining matches will be got off during the week. The games played were as follow :— H. C.
