TURKISH ATROCITIES.
BLOODSHED, OPPRESSION. AND RAPINE, THOUSANDS SLAUGHTERED. Co*sTaxn.NorLß, Nov. 17. —Atrocities have been committed in Armenia, owing to the refusal of the people to pay taxes. The Turkish troops fired on tlbe people, killing thousands, and destroying twenty-five Tillages. The Turkish commander accuses the British Consul at Van, who reported the ma—acre, of having incited the populace to revolt. The Armenian Patriotic Association is sending a memorial to Earl Kimberley, toe British Secretary of Btate for Foreign Affairs, urging that the Berlin signatonss should replace the Turkish r*gimu The details of the atrocities are appalling, and it v alleged that the Turkish Government directly instigated rioleooe. From six to ten thousand were slaughtered regardless ef ace or ml Nine hundred women, after being oatraged, were backed to pieces. The Armenian press declare that some of the most attractive women were offered their lives if they abjured their faith, bat declined, and were killed. The authorities here state that Armenian brigands, with insurgent Cards, outraged Mussulmen and Christians, and that It was only by means of the regulars that order was restored.
