Stock Sale.
Messrs Common, Shelton and Co., limited* report : — We held our monthly sale al our Waerenga-a-hika yards on Wednesday last, and notwithstanding the threatened drought, there was a numerous attendance of purchasers. Bidding was anything but brisk, and prices as a rule were considerably lower, though in several instances the figures reached were equal to late values. The fall was particularly noticeable in calves and yearlings, and in low-conditioned rough cattle. Well-bred quiet cattle, good springing heifers and cows, and fat cattle maintained late values. One lot of 68 two to three year steers were withdrawn at the auction, but afterwards sold at the owner's reserve. We yarded 382 head cattle, and sold 342, at : For calves 18s to 255, yearlings 30a to 40s, 18 months to two year steers 50s to 6Ss, three year steers 703 to 100 a, dairy cows SOs to 110s, fat steers 110s to 126s 6d, fat cows 100s to 1223 6d, and 40 head of lowconditioned coarse heifers and cows 32s to 75s ; 100 two-tooth ewes and wethers sold at 6s 3d, 70 mixed fat sheep 8s 6d, 98 fat wethers 9a 9d, and 88 old ewes with lambs 2s 6d each. A useful stock-horse brought £5, and an aged medium draught mare £7 ss. Our next stock sale will be held on the.l2th of December.
