A meeting of the Poverty Bay Paik Company will be held at the British Empire Hotel at 7.30 to-night.

Mr D. M. Orr holds his usual sale of fruit, produce, and poultry to-morrow at 11 a.m.

Tenders will be received by Mr E. P Joyce, up to 4 p.m. to-morrow, for painting a residence at North Uisborne, and also three shops in Gladstone road.

Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. draw attention to tbeir stock sale, of which particulars are given in our advertising columns, which is to be held at their Waerenga-a-hika yards to-morrow, sale commencing at eleven o'clock.

J. Poyoter, of the Turanganui Football Club, has been selected as ene of the forwards to represent the North Island against New South Wales, at Auckland, next week. The monthly meeting of the Hospital Trustees will be held this evening, at the Hospital, when, in addition to the ordinary business, Captain Tucker's special motion, to provide an extra ward for the treatment of incurable cases which are now excluded from the list, but which necessitate constant medical skill and careful attendance, will be considered.

At th eMagistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr Booth, 6.M., Hugh Mcllroy was sentenced to one month's Imprisonment in Giiborne gaol, for failing to comply with an order madn by the Resident Magistrate at Chriitchuroh. under the provisions of " The Industrial Schools Act, 1882," for the payment of 10s a week towards the support of his children ; the sum of £22 10s being due up to the 30th April, 1894.

That toe audience were well satisfied was evidenced by the numerous encores demanded. Mrs Morrison played the sooompanimente for the vocal part of the ooncert Two pretty overtures were given by the orchestra. The music for the dancing was by Meesrs Stnart and OalHe on Ihe bagpipes Mr Birrell (in Highland costume) sang in good style two soifgs " The Scottish Emigrant's Farewell " and " McGregor's Gathering ; M with the latter there being presented a pretty tabUau of Highlanders. Sawyer, and Greig ; Milor's hornpipe, by Mr R. Noble; and a Higbknd reel by pupils. Mr Btuart also g »vo a Highland dance, being warmly applauded. A pleasant evening cooolttded with the singing of " Auld Lang Byne."
