The Public Trust Office, constituted by " The Public Trust Office Act, 1872," has been since much enlarged in its functions by amending Acts, to meet growing requirements. The Amendment Act of 1891 facilitates administration, authorises prompt distribution, provides absolute security against at the discretion of the Public Trustee, and insures the regular payment of the interest. The Security and Fidelity of the Pub. lie Trustee's administration must be considered of the utmost importance to every person contemplating the appointment of a trustee. The colony guarantees the fidelity at the administration, and Guarantees also the Integrity of the Capital Funds invested at the option of the Public Trustee. The Colony Guarantees also, on the capital funds arising for investment out of the properties placed in the Public Trust Office, a common rate of interest, to be paid qnarterly. Free of all charges of the Public Trust Office. The value of this guarantee is in the Guarantee of the Colony against loss from investments in bad or insufficient securities, and against loss from delay in investment, and for the regular and punctual payment of the interest, fra of all charges effna Public Trust Office. In the appointment of Trustees there must always be serious concern as to the security of the capital funds ; and the larger the capital funds the greater must be the concern for security, and the less for a high rate of in« terert. The Public Trustee cannot die, eantiot leave the colony, cannot become disqualified, or involved & private difficulties; ana oannot be distrusted* In private trusteeships, death and absence render necessary numerous and expensive deeds not required by Public Trustee's administration, which has, besides, the office solicitor's advice without expense to the estates.
