Press Association— Electrio Telegraph— Copy tight SYDNEY, June 25, Parliament has dissolved, and the general election will be held on July 17. The Premier has issued a manifesto stating that the first question which will press on the new Parliament for immediate solution, will be the regulation of the alienation of public lands, mainly based on the Bill recently before Parliament. The second question will be local government, and the third the regulation and control of the finances. The Government will afford every opportunity for discussing the unity of Australia, and will introduce a complete measure of Banitary legislation, also Bills to regulate the coal mines, introduction of colored labor, and an amendment of the navigation laws. A meeting of the produce trade formed an association, having for its primary object the limitation of the term of credit to fifteen days after rendering accounts. Members of the /association pledged themselves not to give credit to any defaulters. June 26. — So far as this colony is concerned, the Pastoralists' Union has filled all the sheds for two months. Rae, a member of the Shearers' Executive, states that unless the Pastoralists withdraw from the position taken up, by tbe middle of August the greatest fight Australia has yet seen is certain. The dissolution of Parliament comes as a surprise,, as it was not expected before JulylObh. Mr Reed, Leader of the Opposition, considers it a bit of sharp practice, and done m order to confuse their opponents. The Minister of Lands proposes to largely substitute land leases with right of purchase, also to appraise the unimproved value, and fix rents from 1 J to 2£ per cent, on that value for the whole period of the lease which is fixed at 28 years, with the option of renewal. With regard to village settlements, the same terms are to be allowed, and the Minister adds that the settlements may be worked on community or individualistic lines. Leaseholders, instead of mortgaging, may take a portion of the holding as freehold and sell that instead of borrowing on the whole. MELBOURNE, Junk 26. In consequence of Sir G. R. Dibba objecting to a communication with Mr HennikerHeaton re penny postage, the Premier has dropped the idea. BRISBANE, June 25. The Anglican Synod of Townsville have unanimously decided to ask the Primate to invite the Archbishop of Canterbury to visit Australia. At the Westland station all hands refused to sign the new shearing agreement. At Eveaham 40 were willing to sign but 600 against. .^__ __^___
