Last Saturday being declared an " off" day by the Poverty Bay Rugby Union, on account of the visit of the Turanganui team to Napier, only one match was played. The only game that eventuated was the JUNIOR MATCH. GI9BOENE n. V. ROVERS. Gisborne won the toss, and decided to play down the field. The Rovers kicked off, which Gisborne returned, and following up smftrtly soon had the play m the Blue (Rover's) territory. The latter worked it steadily up the field, only to be forced back again. By a bit of good passing here, McCredie secured the ball and potted a pretty goal. The Blue's soon had the ball m play again, and carried it up to the Black's territory. The Utter worked it back to centre, but the Blue's soon had it back again, and from a pass Gray potted at the goal, but failed, making a poster. Gisborne had tb,e oval m aot<on again, and took it slowly \down to centre, but the Blue's took it back again, and the Gisborne this time worked it past the centre, when one of the Rovers, picking out of the scrum, gave Gisborne a free 1 kick. Pitt took the kick, but failed, it going under the bar. Half-time eras soon afterwards called, the scores standing, Gisborne 4 points, Rovers nil. Gisborne started the second spell, the Rover's returning, and the latter following up smartly soon had the former on the defensive. J. Haisman was m the act of potting when he was collared suddenly from behind, and the ball went just under the bar, the Gisborne being forced. The ball was soon m play again, and the Gisborne worked the oval to the Rovers' 25, where McCredie potted at goal, but failed. Soon after this Pitt obtained a free kick for off-side play, but failed to make a goal. The ball was then kept m Rovers' territory, where the Gisborne got the ball over the line, Morris falling on it. Pitt took the kick, but failed to convert, only making a poster. Shortly after kicking off Bennett, for the Gisborne, scored a try, Pitt subsequently adding the major points. The Hovers soon had the leather down again m the Gisborne 25, where it was kept for a good time, bub on one of the forwards kicking too hacd the ball went over the line and Gisborne were forced. Again the Blacks took the ball up the field, and Porter managed to secure a try. Pitt again took the kick, but failed to increase, the ball going wide. The whistle soon afterwards sounded, with the scores standing Gisborne 15, Rovers nil. For the victors McCredie, Pitt, Porter, and Bennett did the best work, while for the defeated Finlayson, J. Haisman, Dick, Taylor, and Jeune shone the most, j
