From Port Awanui, reporting that the £100 required towards a school building could not be raised. — The Board could not offer better times. From Mr Caldwell, near Tolago Bay, and a neighbor, asking the Board to assist in boarding their four children at Tolago Bay, so that they could attend school. — No funds available for such a purpose. From Waerenga-a-hika, asking the Board to re-consider its decision to pay the master only half salary during sickness.—Regulations must be observed. From the Education Department, agreeing to pay capitation on the working average, instead of the strict average, for the March quarter. The following appointment was confirmed: — Miss Amy Hair, pupil teacher, Gisborne. Mr Gilberd, on behalf of the Napier School Committee, asked permission under clause 78 of the Act to establish a savings bank in connection with the school, and the request was granted. Port Awanui asked final decision of Board re school. The £100 required could not be raised. — Board cannot grant more than £150.
