» [By Telegraph. — Press Association.] AUCKLAND, To-day. A majority of the Auckland representatives to the rifle meeting at Christchurch left by the MShinapua to-day. The team comprises twenty-one shootists, and includes several debutantes. The following left :— Sergeants Kearsley, Doughty, and Parslow, Corporal Webster, Gunners Brown, Dobba, Hatawell, Head, Greenshielda, and Taylor, of the A Battery ; Lieutenant White, volunteers Robertson, Cox, Tobin, and Dormer, of the City Rifles; Volunteers T. Fairs, Scull, and Sheppard, of the Victoria Rifles ; Private Spinley, of the Ponsonby Navals ; Mr Steadman, Whangarei ; Seaman Henderson, of the Thames Navals. CHRISTCHURCH, To-dat. At the inquest on George Nesbitb, killed by the Sumner tram, a verdict of *' Accidental death " was returned. NEW PLYMOUTH, To-day. A novel match has been arranged for Saturday. A young man named Herbert has been backed for £20 that he will climb Mount Egmont from the Mountain House and return again m two hours and threequar ers. DUNEDIN, To-day. Michael Houlahan was fined £15 for selling liquor without a license.
