Supreme Court.
Nai'lKß, to-day. — The Supreme Court wa a opened to-day when Judge Richmond made but very few remarks on the calendar, which contained nine charges against six prisoners. One of these, said the Judge, concerned the chasity of a woman, as did another case in which an attempt waa made to extort money from a doctor by a man who had alleged that the doctor had taken liberties with the man's wife. Even if the latter's allegations were true, it had nothing to do with the charge which was to extort money. The other charges required no comment from him. After the grand jury retired Thomas C. Johnstonc, who was released on probation in June last on a charge of forgery, was brought up by Mr Severne, the gaoler, for breaking the probation regulations by not paying £15 costs and failing to report himself regularly, and for leaving the district without permission. He was remanded till to-morrow.
