Extensive Embezzlements

Sydney, Sept. 2.

Drew, the member of the well-known mercantile firm of Macready, Drew, and Co., of Melbourne, has been arrested on a charge of being concerned in the embezzlement of LIO,OOO. The firm were agents for a Paris firm, who sent out an agent to investigate their accounts, with the result that LIO,OOO was unaccounted for. Macready is believed to bo in London, and Bruce, another partner, has gone to Natal.
