A correspondent of the Standard writes :— " The following instance of the pitiful ignorance that exists in Ireland as to tho effect or meaning of Home Rule may interest your raaders. A few days ago a lady residing not far from Dublin was surprised when the servant came and told her that a certain workman had called aud asked permission to look over the house. As she had known the man some time she made no objection, although, naturally, she thought it a strange request, and before he left she asked, him why he wanted to see it. On this he naively explained that they had had a meeting in the village and drawn lots for the various properties in the neighborhood, which they were to have when the Home Rule Bill passed. He had drawn her house and just wanted to inspect his lot." „ _j
