Attempt to Blow up Two Steamers.
Sydnbt, July 14. A tremendous sensation was caused at Newcastle by an attempt to de«troy tha steamers Sydney and Burrumbeefc by means of dynamite. Yesterday firemen on both vessels found dynamite cartridges in the stoke hole with burning fuse attached. The Sydney's fireman placed the cartridge in a bucket of water, bu6 its exploded, smashing the bucket) to atoms, though no damage was done to the vessel. On board the Burrumbeet ib was extinguished and prevented from exploding. The Government offer L 250 reward in each Cftse for the discovery of the culprits, Juxa 15. — The Seamen's Unien disclaim any connection with the dynamite outrage afe Newcastle. The officials connected with both companies treat the. matter lightly. The vessels on which the cartridges were found were manned [ by non-unionist crewa.
