Police Changes.

WbUjINGTON, to-day. — The following are the changes in the polite inspectors : Inspector Broham goes from Auckland to Christchurch, Thomson from Wellington to New Plymouth, Pender from Christchurch to Wellington, Hickson from Dunedin to Auckland, Pardy from New Plymouth to Dunedin. Inspector Emenon, now stationed in Waikato, makes his headquarters at Napier. A portion of New Plymouth district will be attached to Napier, and part of Waikato district to Auckland. The only inspector not removed is McGovern, who remains in charge of the West Coast and Nelson.

Fogs as dark as midnight had prevailed in London prior to the departure of the 'Frisco mail.

Several outrages by brigands are reported from Poland. One family of six were murdered and robbed in a village hotel. The murderers have been arrested.

A Masterton fisherman discovered a fine rock of greenstone some miles up the Waingawa river on Sunday. Specimens have been brought in. At the meeting of the New Zealand Midland Railway Company last week the chairman said the profit for the year was £2800. There remained unsold of the lan d grant earned £2/5,000 worth.
