THE CHOLERA.
London, Oct. 1. A death from cholera is reported at March, near Cambridge. The victim had partaken of imported fruit from Hamburg. Atiikns, Oct. 1. Four deaths from cholera have been recorded in this city. Berlin, Oct 1. Mr Stanhope, the New York Herald reporter, who was inoculated with antieholeraio vaccine by M. Pasteur's assistant, has been refused admittance to the Berlin hotels. The deaths in Hamburg yesterday fell to 27. The public schools re-open on the 10th inst.
A novel entertainment was given in Invercargill on Wednesday night to provide funds to finish a band 'rotunda. It was very successful from a monetary point of view. There was a guarantee that those who took part in it had never appeared in a similar position before, and curiosity ran high, the names bein" withheld. The performers proved to be mostly staid, grave, and elderly residents in the town and in the country, who sang, danced, and orated in a way that many little expected from them. LADIES ! LADIES !
