H.B. JOCKEY CLUB SPRING MEETING. Hastings Racecourse, to-day. The weather is beautifully fine for the opening day of the Jockey Club's Spring meeting. The following are the results j— October Handicap. — Swivel (Banks) 1, Strophon (Morrigan) 2, Wyyern (Connop) 3. Won easily. St. Malo, Brown Duke, Free Lance, King George, Prioress, and Jeannie Deans also ran. Dreamland was scratched. Dividend, £6 12s ; time, 2min 52secs. Hurdler.— Tiritia (Bower) 1, Aorere, (Gilpin) 2, Violo II (Harris) 3. All started. Won comfortably, Aorere a good second, Gondolier, who jumped badly, fourth, Kaimanawa fifth, Worth last. Dividend, £9 16s ; time, 4min I9secs. Guineas. — St. Hippo (Gallagher) 1, Variety (Derret) 2, St. Katherine 3. Won in a canter. Stepniak and Atlantic made all the running until the turn into the straight, where St. Hippo shot out and beat his field anyhow. Time Imin oOseca ; div. ill 1 O Q Maiden.— R'vngiatea 1, Ua 2, Monte Carlo 3.
