The Drummer ; dam Carisancfc, by New Warrior, dam 10. The Drummer, by Rataplan, a son of The Baron, and full-broher to Stockwell (the Prince of Stallions). Rataplan was Hie winner of 42 races in England, am. the sire of numerous winners. The Drummer won tho Great Metropolitan --Hakes, and ran a clOße third for the Derby before leaving England ; and was second <n the list of winning sires at the time of his death in Australia. My Niece, the dam of The Drummer, was a very high-clasu mare, and was got by t,h*t superior racehorse, Cowl, thn best horse in En-'lnn<l ai two and thrre years of aye. Cowl, by Bay Middleton, dam Crucifix (the dani of Surpli^p, a n> ver-forgottcn horse). There is ono feature in the pediiree of Surplice that may be pointed out. As a stranire coincidence, be was got by Touchstone ou 1 - of Crucifix, and he won the t-t. Leger ; Cmcifls, by Priam, and she won the Oaks ; and Priam (her s ! re) won ths Derby ; thn* numbering the winners of the three great races in his three nearest of kin. Corisandb, the dam of Wakatipu, is also the dam of Chicago (winner of the Caulfield Cup). Churchi j, Michigan ((rood porformer:), and Primrose (tho dam of Wildroso, the winner of the Nswm rket Handicap) Primrose's yearling at last year's sale of blood stock realised two thousand throe hundred guineas. CoriFnnde is also full-sintor to Flora Mclvor, the dam of Mr T. Morrin'i celebrated mare Frailty (dam of Trenton, Cuirassier, Cissy, Niagara, Mary, and Zalanski, all large winners in New Zealand and Australia). New Warrior, the sire of Oorisando, was the sire of three winners of tho Melbourne Cup, in Tim Whimer, Warrior, and Pearl. Tim Whiffler also won the Australian J C. Plate three times, and tho Motr»pohtan Stakes. Prophet, by N«w Warrior, won Sydney Gold Cup, and Tarragon and Roinula both won the Champion Race, three miles.
