Presbyterian Assembly.
Auckland, to-day. — A committee, consisting of the Auckland Presbytery, was appointed to consider the report on the desirability of adopting a scheme for periodical changes of Ministers. At the Presbyterian Assembly to-day it was resolved that the Rev. Win. Gillies, of Timaru, be the next Moderator. Dr. Elinslie was appointed Deputy to the Synod of Otago and Southland. A resolution was passed approving, of the present system of State education so far as in di if using knowledge,* but expressing regret that religious instruction was not gi%-en in public schools. jThe Assembly adjourned to meet in St. : John's Church, Wellington, ou the second Tuesday of February uejt.
