[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, To-day. The Kaihu Valley railway, with plant, rolling stock, etc, was sold yesterday, being bought in by the mortgagee. This line therefore passes into tho hands of the Government. Arrived : Piako, ship (Captain Sutherland), from London, 97 days out. # She experienced very stormy weather in the Southern ocoan. The first mate broke his collar-bone and sustained other injuries by falling off tha forecastle head last night. MARTON, To-day. A man named William Scarrow, 32 years of ago, committed suicide yesterday at Sanson. He drowned himself in a dam on liis father's land. He has complained lately of pains and noises in his head.
