Post entries will be received for the following : — Open Whaleboats, Ladies' Race, Pleasure Boats, Punt Race, Canoe Race, and Greasy Boom. The Regatta Committee will endeavor to introduce into the programme on Monday next, a highly amusing and favorite event at all regattas, a canoe hurdle race, for which a good prize will probably be offered. Those who have nevar witnessed this event can form no idea of the amount of fun to be got out of it. At the jubiles regatta at Auckland, Lord Onslow was intensely amused for over an hour watching this particular event. Some Natives are very proficient in flying the hurdle while seated in the canoe, but nineteen out of twenty succeed in turning a complete somersault, ounoe and all disappearing under the water. The Gisborne Swimming Club may also add one or two items to the programme during the day.
