The defalcations of Bradley, the manager of a branch of the English and Scottish Chartered Bank, and who has absconded, arc alleged to be close on L50.00D. ! While experimenting with Professor Deßavey, bacterislogist, and during an operation on a patient, Dr O'Hara was struck with the antiseptic qualities of a flow of chyle from the thoracic duct, and he induced the Professor to experiment with this organisation with a view to discovering whether it was antagonistic to typhoid germs. This bacilline has been administrated to patients suffering from typhoid and diphtheria and a wonderful effect is claimed. The experiments arc progressing. Thomas Phelan, locomotive driver, has been sentenced to death for tho murder of his paramour, Ada Hatton, at South Yarra on January 15.
