ANOTHER CONSUMPTION CURE.

Brisbane, Feb. 6. A local auctioneer claims to have discovered a cure for consumption and cancer, and he intends to erect a plant " capable of treating ten thousand patients, He has offered his specific to the Queensland Government for L 25,000,

It is likely that the Union Company will take up the Tauranga- Auckland service again, as a memorial signed by nearly every merchant and storekeeper in Tauranga has been forwarded to the Company praying that the steamers trading up and down the East Coast may call at Tauranga at least once a week each way. The memorialists pledge themselves to support the Union Company provided they comply with the request, by importing and exporting all their goods by that Company's steamers, and also by travelling in them if the rates are no higher than those charged by the Northern Steamship Compnny. The barque Anna Herbertha, whioh arrived at Bluff from Adelaide on Sunday, had two cases of soarlet fever on board, but notwithstanding this she was allowed to berth alongside the wharf. The Mayor of the Bluff telegraphed to the Colonial Secretary, who has instructed the Invercavgill Collector of Customs to inquire, and take action if necessary.
