Sint Maur Company.
This talented Company arrived this morning by the Southern Cross after a most successful season in Napier. During their season the Press have spoken of the performances of the St. Maur Company in the very highest terms, stating that it is the most complete company that has ever travelled New Zealand. Mr St. Maur, who is the " star " of the company, comes to us with a world-wide reputation as an actor of the first water. He originally came out from London under engagement to the firm of Williamson, Garner, and Musgrove, specially engaged to produce Sir Charles Young's great play " Jim the Penman," in which he sustains his original creation of James Ralston, a part in which he has no rivals. Mr St. Maur will be supported by a large and powerful company of sixteen members, all of whom are fresh to Gisborne. Miss Florence Seymour, who is a great favorite in New Zealand, Avill appear here for the first time. ' 'Jim the Penman" will be produced for this evening only, with entirely new scenery. The company plays here to-night and to-morrow, and on Sunday catch the steamer for Auckland. " Barnes of New York " will be presented to-morrow, the original London version dramatised from Gunter's widely read novel of the same name. , So the plaj'goers of Gisborne will have the genuine treat of witnessing this talented company of dramatic artists appear in two entirely new interesting plays. The cast this evening will be as follews :■— James Ralston, Mr St. Maur ; Baron Hartfeld, Mr J. J. Kennedy, Louis Percival, Mr Frank Gerald ; Lord Drelincourfc, Mr Stilling Duff; Capt. Redwood,Mr Fred Clifford ; George Ralston, Mr Charles Berkeley ; Mr Netherby, Mr R. W. Grevillo ; Dr Pettywise, Mr Charles Hill ;Mr Clapstone, Mr Ed. Sayer. Miss Floi'enee Seymour as Mrs Ralston, Miss Eily Mayo as Agnes Ralston, Miss Hetty Kennedy as Lady Dunscombe, and Miss Georgic Smithson as Mrs Ohapstone, making in all one of tho strongest and most complete companies that has ever visited Gisborno. No doubt the Theatre will be crowded each evening.
