Tho principal •jbjeel in building the bridge is to connect the International Jtailway from Halifax and St. John to Quebec, which is run by the Canadian Government at agreat loss to the country, with the Canadian Pacific Railway, an uninterrupted lino from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean through the Canadian territory.
